About MonitorUltra
MonitorUltra turns an iPhone or iPad you already own into a video baby monitor. One person builds it, and this page says who.
Who builds it
My name is Nicolas Mathieu. I write the app, I run the company behind it and I answer the support email, so a reply comes from the person who wrote the code rather than from a support desk.
Why it exists
I am a developer in Paris and a father of two. We travel often, and what finally pushed me to build this was carrying a baby monitor through an airport and then leaving it behind in the rental flat. The spare iPhone in a drawer is better hardware than most baby monitors on sale. It was missing only software that could be trusted to stay connected, and that took months longer than I expected.
How it makes money
The subscription is the only revenue. There are no ads in the app, and no data about your family is sold or brokered to anyone. Keeping a live video connection open costs money to run, and the subscription is what pays for it.
What it will not do
Nothing is recorded. No video is stored on your phone or on our servers, which is why the app has no playback and no sleep history. Other monitors offer both. I did not want footage of my own child sitting on anybody’s server, including mine. MonitorUltra also does not track breathing, oxygen or heart rate, and it is not a medical device.
The company
MonitorUltra is operated by ClairAI, a French société par actions simplifiée unipersonnelle registered under SIREN 994023539 and based in Paris. The binding legal text is on the Terms page, and the data practices are set out in full on the Privacy page.
